Gratitude and Joy

Gratitude and Joy are at Hand

“As gratitude grows it gives rise to joy.” ~~Jack Kornfield

Thank you friends and loved ones, for befriending and caring for me, even the tiniest bit.  Yes, you cared for me in times of abundance and ease.  But also and especially, thank you for your warmth, love, and support when things were hard and times were tough. I think of friends and I’m grateful and happy.  It’s simple.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all could say with Patch Adams, doctor and founder of the Gesundheit Institute, “At the age of 18, I made up my mind to never have another bad day in my life. I dove into an endless sea of gratitude from which I’ve never emerged”? We can.

There is no treasure as valuable as good friends. Nothing that brings more joy, except perhaps cultivating a heart filled with gratitude… for good friends… and for the simple, near-at-hand riches of ordinary life.

I hope you enjoy the meditation I’ve attached.  It’s on gratitude and joy and it’s offered to us by Jack Kornfield: jackkornfield.com/meditation-gratitude-joy/

Please remember that we’ve moved Sunday Morning Buddhist Meditation,  and all our other offerings, to the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church.  The new start time for SMBM is 7:30AM.  Here’s a link to the Sweeping Heart Zen calendar: sweepingheartzen.org/events/sunday-morning-buddhist-meditation-2-2017-08-06/

Very best wishes for your continued happiness, safety, and good health,

Mark
