Healing Water Insiration

Inspiration, Can We Make A Better World?

Every now and then someone shows me I can really open my heart.  From my point of view, it’s wonderful and totally necessary to meet people who can inspire love in my life. Thinking about such inspiring people gives me the lift I need whenever I get a bit discouraged or when I try to improve even just my little piece of the world. I know I can always use some inspiration from life’s down-to-earth doers, from the true lovers of the world.

The Gift of Inspiration

People that inspire me are those who seem to live and give from the overflowing confidence they have in the fundamental goodness of the human heart. In this post I want to introduce you to one such person.  This is someone who makes a big difference in our world.  Yet, she is virtually unknown in America.

Develop the mind of joy… ~The Buddha

Her name is Master Cheng Yen. She is an 81-year old Buddhist nun. When Cheng Yen was 29 she founded the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation. That was in 1966. Today, this foundation provides international disaster relief and support for the poor and hungry and to those in need of medical care around the globe. Tzu Chi also runs programs to repair and protect the environment worldwide.

Here is heartwarming 1-minute video showing Master Cheng Yen and Catholic Sister Angela Doyle talking about how love is as necessary and as universal as water: youtube.com/channel/UCftPzBZiukrcL70962aHc8Q It’s the first video on top of the Tzu Chi English YouTube page.

“Different names, but the same love…” ~Master Cheng Yen

Today, Tzu Chi is reported to have 10 million volunteers working to reduce suffering in 97 countries. Notably, Tzu Chi offers assistance to everyone who might need it regardless of race, nationality, religion, or gender.
