Bernie Glassman died on Sunday morning, November 4, in Massachusetts.
He was 79. Bernie was a highly innovative and unconventional Zen Teacher who had an outsized impact on how Zen was experienced in his generation and beyond. His freewheeling, compassion filled dharma teaching and spirit will be missed.
“The basis problem, actually, is how to get rid of the idea that we are going to get rid of our problems. Only then can we relate directly with the real issues of our life.” ~Bernie Glassman
